Clinics and Services

Child Health

We undertake routine immunisations and child development checks. Health visitors run ‘drop-in’ weighing and advice clinics on a regular basis at various local sites.

Disease Prevention And Chronic Disease Clinics

Regular clinics for chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure, are run by the practice nurses and doctors. We offer routine vaccinations including influenza and pneumococcal vaccination. We also monitor our patients on warfarin.

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit an annual review of your asthma symptoms, please complete our online Asthma Review form.

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit your blood pressure readings on a regular basis, please complete our online Blood Pressure Review form.

Family Planning And Maternity Care

All aspects of family planning and maternity care can be discussed with your doctor. Emergency contraception is also available.

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit a contraceptive pill review, please complete our online Contraceptive Pill Review form.

Minor Surgery And Joint Injections

Minor operations and cryotherapy are done by the doctors, or the nurse practitioner, in the surgery. Some cases may be referred to the East Surrey hospital.

Mental health Support for Children and Parents

The Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) team are mental health workers trained in helping children, young people and their families manage their mental health difficulties.

We provide early access to mental health support through working directly with:

  • Parents of primary school children with anxiety and challenging behaviour
  • Young people at secondary school with anxiety and low mood

This evidenced based intervention aims to address difficulties early before they escalate or become entrenched. We offer 6-8 sessions, these will be a mix of face to face (held at Hawthorns Surgery on Fridays) and telephone sessions. Sessions can also be successfully delivered via Zoom. Some reading and home practice tasks are required between each session – full support will be given by the CWP.

Intervention successes include working with: phobias, separation anxiety, social fears, excessive worrying, low mood, emotional regulation, and managing difficult behaviours.

Start date: Friday 16th April 2021.

Please speak to the Hawthorns Reception Team for information about the referral process.

Private Medicals And Reports

Certain medicals, reports and forms are not covered by the NHS and therefore incur a charge. Please ask at reception for details.

Travel Clinic

Two of our practice nurses run regular clinics to give vaccinations and advice to those travelling abroad. Four to six weeks’ notice is needed prior to travel, otherwise the practice nurse may not be able to offer an appointment. A form will need to be completed and three working days allowed for the nurse to check your medical history and what is required for the area being visited.

The nurses do not discuss travel vaccine requirements over the telephone. If you do not leave enough time before your travel dates, and need immunisations, appointments at the surgery may not be available. Information about private travel clinics (at your own cost) can be obtained at reception.

Please complete our online Travel Risk Assessment form before your appointment.
